2nd June 2026, at 7:30 pm.
We warmly invite you to our annual lecture, this year given by Professor Artemis Leontis C.P. Cavafy Professor of Classics and Comparative Literature and Director of the Modern Greek Program at the University of Michigan.

In ‘Gendered Archive Trouble: The Case of Eva Palmer ‘Sikelianos’, Professor Leontis traces the dramatic journey of the youthful love correspondence of performer, director, weaver, and philhellene Eva Palmer Sikelianos, from private collection to public custody in libraries of national significance in Paris and Athens—a journey marked by concealment, suppression, and shifting access.
The lecture will be held in the Friends’ Room at the Hellenic Centre, 16-18 Paddington Street, London (open to all) with the SMGS AGM at 6:30 (members only)
